Getting started

Go from zero to collecting your first job lead in under 10 minutes.

Note: This guide assumes your workspace is already active. If you're being redirected to billing setup, go to /pricing/setup or see Billing & plans.
Tip: Prefer a checklist? Open /get-started in the app, or follow the Onboarding walkthrough.

1. Create your account

1

Sign up at quotetxt.com

Head to /signup and enter your business name, trade, and email. Your trade selection sets up your chatbot's intake questions.

Note: Trade is set at signup. If you need a different trade later, contact support.
2

Confirm your email

Check your inbox for a confirmation email from QuoteTxt. Click the link to verify your address. If you don't see it within a minute, check your spam folder.

Tip: Use your work email so team invites match your organization domain.

2. Set up your business profile

1

Go to Settings

Open Settings from the main nav. Start on Business Profile to enter the details that power your workspace and customer-facing documents.

2

Add your business name and logo

Under Settings → Business Profile, enter your business name and upload a logo. Your logo appears on the public profile, quotes, and invoices.

3

Confirm your contact details and timezone

Add your primary phone number, contact email, business address, and timezone so job dates, invoices, and notifications display correctly.

Note: Your timezone affects how job timestamps and scheduled notifications are displayed. Set it correctly before your first job comes in.

3. Review services in Chat Behavior

1

Open Settings → Chat Behavior

Open Settings → Chat Behavior. This section shows the services your assistant can talk about and whether each one is Primary, Secondary, or Hidden.

  • Primary — Offered first to customers as common service types
  • Secondary — Available but less prominent
  • Hidden — Not shown to customers
2

Check that your core services are visible

Make sure the services you want customers to request are set the way you expect. If your plan allows custom services, you can add them here too.

3

Know what is managed by QuoteTxt

Required intake fields and deeper question flow are platform-managed. Chat Behavior is mainly where you review the services customers can choose from.

4. Share your intake link

1

Find your link

Go to Settings → Public Profile. In Share & Distribute, your unique intake URL is shown at the top — it looks like https://quotetxt.com/start/your-business-slug.

2

Share it with customers

Copy the link and send it to customers via text, email, or your website. You can also download your QR code to print on business cards, truck magnets, or job site signs.

Good to know: For step-by-step sharing strategies, see Sharing your intake link.

5. Work your first job

1

Customer completes the chat

When a customer opens your link, the chat assistant guides them through scope, photos, address, and contact info. The whole conversation takes 2–4 minutes on mobile.

2

You get notified

You'll receive an email (and SMS if enabled) as soon as a job is submitted. Open your Dashboard to see it.

3

Review and act on the job

Open the job to see the summary, customer photos, property info, and requirements. From there you can update the job status, create a quote, or message the customer.

Tip: The Managing jobs guide explains every status stage and what to do at each step.
